Richard’s Story:

Kayondo Richard began his studies at Rising Star in 2012 as a young boy. He stayed at his grandparent’s home near the school. During his first term, the teachers and administration discovered that Richard’s feet were infected with hundreds of painful, parasitic insects called ‘chigoe fleas.’ He had to be removed from the school immediately to be treated. The Director of the school brought Richard into his home where the insects had to be removed by scalpel.

Richard has now grown into an intelligent boy who is shy to no one. He’s growing to be a leader. All of this was possible because of his sponsors through Rising Star. Without them, Richard’s life would be completely different. As of 2017, Richard has finished his studies at Rising Star primary school with excellent results. However, his future in secondary school is uncertain because of an unfortunate lack of money.
